The sweetest version of Android mobiles has been launched known as Nougat. Firstly let’s explore why Google names its Android versions after sweets. It seems to be an internal team joke or the Google team is really fond of sweets but some light had been shed during the launch of Kitkat version of Android. The spokesperson’s explanation: “Android is the operating system that powers over 1 billion smartphone’s and tablets. Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and JellyBean. As everybody finds it difficult to stay away from chocolate we decided to name the next version of Android after one of our favorite chocolate treats, Kitkat.” Android nougat was launched on 22nd August this year only and is already available on the Nexus devices. The nougat update shall be pushed into many Android devices and the further works of the developers are already decided as they have to make out the features to get along with onto their applications.

Poll for name

This recent launch has been more than a corporate affair as the name had been open to poll so that people could decide. The participation of people was at a large scale and created a great deal of buzz for the yet to be launched Android operating system. Many creative names were put forward as Nutter Butter, Nerds, Necco Wafers, Nutella, even Indian dessert names such as Nankhatai and Neyyappam. The activity was majorly supported and suggested by the Google CEO, Sundar Pichai. After such a great deal of anticipation and suggestions, the rumor started for Android N which was settled by the launch and announcement of “Android Nougat”.

Bundled with joy

The Android version 7.0 was made available through Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to broaden the availability to the majority of users. The new version was assured with a variety of 250 new features along with the detailed presentation of VR Mode. The VR Mode is given a very refined look along with high-quality experience. The software experience has been upgraded through JIT/AOT compiler. This update eased the app install and decreased storage consumption.

Direct reply notification

The latest version has made handling notifications easier by providing the function of direct reply directly from notifications. Currently, this feature runs for WhatsApp, hangouts etc. The feature enables us to directly attend the urgent notifications through the notification bar and swapping through the irrelevant.

Split window

Making the current version by introducing the split window feature made possible through Vulkan for hybrid app development and 3D graphics. This feature gives us an edge to perform multitasking in the hour of need. This will be an entirely new experience for Android users, In order to enable the multitasking you will require pressing the multitasking button.

Grouped Notification

The application shall group together all the notification and display them. This new version gives a more refined access and you shall be able to view single notification through two finger tap and can even expand button.

Privacy and notifications

The new updated version stresses on privacy and security and hence it has strong capable layers of security and encryption. The security features include file based encryption, direct boot, seamless updates for new devices and scoped folder access. Not only this but security updates shall be automatically installed. The major concern of many users has been solved by the new version from every angle.
